Where those rabbits are coming from

As I have noted there are suddenly a lot of v-rabbits around Second Life. I have found one source of them.

BrainCrave

From the BrainCrave.com group:

FTA:

"By stimulating a certain region of the brain, scientists can alter a person's ability to make moral judgments... The study results show that stimulating a specific brain region interfered with the participants' ability to consider this mental state information when assessing hypothetical situations dealing with morality. For instance, participants who received this brain stimulation were more likely to judge as morally acceptable scenarios involving attempted harms - where a person intends, but fails to carry out a crime, like an attempted poisoning."

The helper

Moonstone Eiren helped me to find my first beard. I had been looking for a beard for a couple years in SL. Never found one. Moonstone helps out in a public area in Caledon Oxford and when I told her about my desire to have a beard she gave me a land mark and $1 later I had a couple heards.

Helping is the key exchange that makes the SL culture work, it makes it a community where Google is just a search engine and Facebook is just a bunch of blogs.

Nice House

Isla Menorca. All are welcome. Van Valeeva welcomes everyone to her home, which is good because she is also an enthusiast for Second Life combat. She is a very active member of Vanguard, the Vanguard group has made the rather unfortunate mistake of calling its leader the F├╝hrer. They claim not to be a racist group and not tolerate members who are, but its hard to understand how any RP group could make such a shitty decision and not be taken as a bunch of Nazis. I don't know any thing about Vanguard, I only know I wish they would change the name of their leader title.

A bondage aristocracy

Harlech Estate is an example of a small domain with a "political" structure based on a bondage family. There are actually a few of these in Second Life. Harlech is the residency of Her Majesty Michelle Childs, Queen of Meriland. Meriland is a bondage gothic fantasy land ruled by Queen Childs with a family of slaves around her. These bondage royalties extend the normal bondage play in to a royal structure.

Its easy enough to dismiss these as sexual fantasy games. But I think royal titles and offices may have a great deal of value in Virtual Reality. Virtual Reality players upon the shared grounding in fairy tales and fantasy, and from Snow White to Star Wars these universes have always had Kings, Queens, Princesses, and Dukes. Presidents, Ministers, Executives and Administrators are the bureaucratic face of power and these roles are repeated in the administration and governance of large computer systems. But they do little for the emotional and identity needs of users. Royal titles and ceremony could do a great deal to build communities of allegiances in virtual space across boundries.

Allegance is the key elemenet to make communities on the Interent survive. Since it is easy to move from one identity or community to another how do you keep people involved? You need to build an emotional tie to a set group, one that can over come the endless childish spats that break out on the Internet, and perhaps adopting the symbols and signs of Royality could do this.

Dragon Cathedral

Isle of Wyrms - Cathedral

The description pretty much explains the RP for this SIM

"Ancient home of the council of wyrms Dragons. A hatching place for dragon, wyvern, wyrmling, hatchling and familiar eggs."

Merlin Peregrine in a dragon avatar. Merlin is pretty much as old an old timer as you meet in Second Life, with a avatar born in 2003.
