Pandora in Second Life

A tree of souls in Pandora Magic in Second Life

Be warned, because of the popularity of the movie Avatar and the complexity of the SIM you should be prepared for continual lag blizzard here.

Brazil in Second Life

+ FILHOS DE CAIM +

One of the most fun parts of Second Life is being able to wonder through a global community. SIMs are made in different languages and communities. Communities are united or divided by only two factors: language and time zone. The English speaking world in Second Life is actually rather fragmented in time, with Australians, British and Americans living in very different time "spaces" and the global community of English speakers living in almost every time zone.

The French speaking community is rather close, united by language and time. Though French, Spanish, and Portuguese both have New World and Old World communities. French is still mostly the language of France, but Spanish and Portuguese are larger in the New World than Old. Korean, German, Italian, and other such languages form smaller groups linked by both time and language, but Second Life is about a vast array of channels to select from, SIMS to fit any desire or interest. And in order to select from the vast variety of spaces people are forced to get better at English.

Brazilian are still Brazilian in Second Life

J.B.T AIRPORT & MARINA CORPORATION has some people from Brazil hanging out on a virtual beach. This is precisely how I would imagine Avatars in Brazil looking. Culture forms a strong basis for the diversity of Second Life.

Dancing for suicide prevention project in SL, SOS Theater!

The Survivors Of Suicide (SOS)Theatre is an example of one of the very best focused uses of Second Life I can imagine. I have to confess I often come to Second Life out of depression myself. It makes perfect senses to use the tool as a means to educate about depression and suicide, and to try and have some fun as well.

The Survivors Of Suicide Project

The Survivors Of Suicide Project not only supports some truely good causes like helping depression, education about suicides and transgender rights but it offers some of the coolest freebies around. I got some toys, totally free, that will keep my avatar busy for weeks. Please stop by and make a donation or check out their information.

The Low Prim Dungeon

Wildcat's Dungeon Solutions Main Store Suppliers of Low Prim Dungeon Equipment, Poses and Animations, as well as fine Bondage Art. I am not sure if SL if full of PERVs, of if it tells us something about the normal fantasies that many people have. A lot of people are in to putting a great deal of effort in sadistic purposes.

Beach

THE BEACH PARTY

Beaches are very popular in Second Life. What do you get if you take a beach and take away the sun, the water, the nice breezes off the water, the great weather, the chance to meet a person for physical contact? You have the sign "beach", and these signs clearly have a influence on people. Frankly I have never been one for beaches, but they seem to facilitate community for a lot of people.

Jeddin Laval

Literary & Artists' Village

Jeddin speaks here for RL author Dana W. Paxson. Between
them, they write, invent, build, sketch, and draw dreams and
wonders from within -- the Innerspace of the mind. They are
students of the Universe.

They've spawned new forms of electronic literature, and
created fictional works in these forms, some of which are
presented in excerpt readings here in Second Life. To show
a little of the settings of the major works, they are building
a model of part of the great City of the work called
DESCENDING ROAD. The readings are from that work.

They collaborate. Having done studies and work in art,
mathematics, physics, computers, literature, invention,
teaching, and patent law, they have a fertile setting for
innovation. Both of them find Second Life immensely
rewarding, and offer prose, poetry, designs, machines,
and their shared sense of amazement to all who share this
awesome fleeting world.

Haiti

One of the many areas trying to raise money for Haiti. The compassion for Haiti on Second Life is touching. Though probably next to nobody from Haiti ever came in world, the sense that a global community has for a global tragedy is dramatic.

Fire for 6 Prims

LOW PRIM FIREPLACES at PRIM SAVERS: low prim fireplace low prim

If you have never played Second Life the critical importance of keeping Prims low might not make any sense to you. Essentially ever space can hold only so many prims. People must decide how many prims things are worth. A fire place which gives no real heat seems to be worth 6 Prims.

Popular in SL but not RL

Empress and Hierophant, I hike in the UK and go to places that serve as the model for this fantasy SIM. I have a great love of the English and Welsh country and hike in my tweed wool jack and wooden stick every chance I get. So I find the popularity of a SIM like this in SL a bit odd. In reality places like this have long since ended as popular destinations. Me and my wife will often walk for hours through the English countryside without seeing a single person, only hearing the inescapable buzz of cars just over the horizon or past the next hill.
