The Virtual Valley of the Dolls: Gender banality in Virtual Reality
Barbie Dolls in Twinity
Barbie Dolls in Second Life
Barbie Dolls in IMVU
Its kind of depressing that even though it is not necessary to be a cliche barbie or ken doll in virtual reality almost everyone is. In the fantasy space people freely desire precisely what advertising agencies and want them to desire.
One would hope that the freedom of a Virtual Reality Singularity would free us from the structures that control our world, but we see in the virtual realities that perhaps it is not reality that is the prison. Perhaps we are prisoners of our own imaginations and fantasies.
