The Golden Gate Bridge in Second Life
And again with the Semantic Web. This blog post, and any Tweets coming off it, present semantic structure. It asserts a number of triplets in a Semantic Web.
Second Life has a Sim called Golden Gate Bridge
Golden Gate Bridge in Second Life contains the SLURL http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Golden%20Gate/59/117/59
Golden Gate Bridge is a model of the Real Golden Gate Bridge
These assertions can power a knowledge engine that some day could mashup the experience of say Google or Microsoft's mapping technology and Second Life, allowing real world images to be mapped on to views in Second Life or moving 3D models between Second Life, Google SketchUP of 3Diva. Virtual worlds can become imagined hypothetical worlds closely linked with other virtual worlds and pointing to a real world place or object. That real world place itself could be embedded in the Internet of Things. For example if you were on the Golden Gate Bridge in reality using something like Foursquare you could show up as an avatar in Second Life.
In the next few years the implications of Web 3.0 are going to open a lot of doors.
