Art Work of Zenna Seetan

Second Life provides a wonderful insight in to just how much of people's "fantasy energy" goes in to sex. Just about all of it I would guess. I have written a great deal about how sexual SIMs very often are far more detailed and better looking than corporate SIMs. There a probably a dozen Gor SIMs that look better than the IBM islands.

Sexuality has always been big business. Our culture has surrounded sex with a privacy space. An alien race might image visiting New York or Hong Kong that humans are not that interested in Sex, they would never think that after a visit to Second Life. I think as a medium SL is therefore more democratic, because it reflexes more honestly what people really care about. That does not mean it is uplifting all the time but it is honest.

I have really strong opinions about silly things that I can validate using the strongest social theory, like why you should not watch Sex in the City or how the Simpsons promotes democracy.
