Fracture
Some time back feminist frustrated by the rise of a new conservatism were looking for some means to insure that the "women's lib" of the 1970s would not continue the women's exploitation of the 1980s. Many looked to cyber identity as a space where humans could be freed of the markers of gender identity and perhaps even create new gender identities. A few years in Second Life will make anyone think that in fact virtual reality is going to turn us in to a species of Barbie and Ken dollars. But it is good to see some people have not given up on the promise of expanding gender through technology.

About Me
- Bob Hooker
- I have really strong opinions about silly things that I can validate using the strongest social theory, like why you should not watch Sex in the City or how the Simpsons promotes democracy.
