I get the feeling that the lag and the lack of stuff feeds the Open Source excitement. These people like being on the cutting edge, Second Life is too evolved for many techie types, they want a frontier, and a Open Source Grid anyone can add to is this new frontier. Its not that there is anything to do there, its the possibility that attracts these people.
