Like all social network spaces that implement "moral" filter systems Second Life has created an X rated and a non-X rated space. The end result is always the same in Social Networks, if you make people decide between being in X rated web space or non-X rated space the vast majority will elect to have fun and be adults.
People are very motivated by freedom, and I think a large percentage of the people in Second Life go dirty SIMs simply for the freedom of it.
