My third Christmas in Second Life
Amatsu Shima (Heavenly Island)
Every year around Christmas I am impressed at how powerfully fully open concepts like Christmas are. Imagine someone tried to place an IP copyright on Christmas? Imagine you had to pay someone who came up with the idea of a tree or even wrapping paper.
The power of Christmas is that no one owns it. Because no one owns it lots and lots of people, from shops to children, people can make money and make joy.
A free framework from which no one makes profit, like say Linux, the English Language, Wikipedia, or Second Life; is the best framework for people to pursue their interests and goals.
But I still have to admit that I am going to get a Windows 7 machine. But we all must make compromises.
