I have to say the most marked improvement I have seen in Second Life over the past 2 years has been in rendering waves. Please click this picture to get a better view of the was foam and wave are being modeled. If only they could make the night sky really cool.

I frankly find the environment in SL depressing. It utterly lacks imagination. Why are there no dragons in the sea? Why is the night sky not as cool Google Sky? I just don't understand why the default is so boring. Cool textures and objects could be downloaded to the client and rezzed quickly as default backgrounds.
