The beach is a popular place in Second Life. As the temperate place of leisure and vacation it is a shared experince of post-work much of the world shares. The beach is a place where nothing is done, a place free of work but not of spending. In time VR metaverses may turn all our culture in to a vast post-capitalist beach.
Perhaps the beach is the illusion that both consumer capitalists and anarchists communists can share: the place after work stops existing.
