Linden Lab plans a two-week virtual party to celebrate the fifth birthday of its simulated world Second Life.
San Francisco-based Linden Lab will host roundtable talks, parties and exhibits in different regions of Second Life between June 23 and July 7. The so-called "virtual world fair" will show off the creativity of Second Life users, which the company calls "residents" and it will also demonstrate some of the clever and unusual ways people have used the environment.
Second Life started a currency exchange -- LindeX -- in 2005 and some of its residents have made profits in the virtual economy.
Philip Rosedale started Linden Lab and Second Life. Mark Kingdon is the company's CEO.
