切腹 In Second Life

A zen tea garden provides a setting for a ritual suicide. The male rejected by his love, humiliated by the AV comes to this place to end his time with Second Life, but in a ritual way that is both protest and recognition of the society. Ritual suicide is a vote for and against a culture, a way that individual can leave the culture without rejecting it.

In America killing oneself with guns is much the same thing. The act takes one out of society (for suicide is leaving the Others behind) while accepting the mythology of violence as solution we see in Westerns to Iraq.
