VAT in Second Life
Some of you in America may have noticed Linden Lab is now charging VAT on purchases to those of us who live in Europe, which will add about 17.5% to the cost of everything in Second Life to residents of the UK.
Though this means British will be paying more than North Americans to use services that most likely do not exist in the UK but are consumed via a computer (tax law is not rational) compared to the gouging on iTunes for the now wealthier (because of the strong Pound and Euro) Europeans by American companies is just as bad. In Second Life people show on an international market and that means that EU and UK residents have more buying power to start with. A pound gets you twice the Lindens on Lindex as a dollar.
