A Mixed Mess in Second Life

Second Life is a set of independent spaces where people are free to build as they want. In the non-islands you get mixes of styles and visions which, like this space, do not mix and produce a strange and ugly 3-D mix of confusion. Most people have no idea that Second Light is so overall ugly because they experience it as a set of teleports that construct an experience like TV and not like space. But moving through the space one is struck by the lack of public in Second Life. All spaces are visions of the owners and there is no public ethic or vision in design. Moving through Second Life, a total free market Universe, one sees how important the public space is to constructing our real world, a real world that you can walk through.
